One Man's Junk

You know what they say: "One man's junk ends up in another man's garage."

I've mentioned on here previously that the garage is my domain. And here. And here. And here. It seems to be a running theme, and I still hope that one day it will sink in with Mandy. But today is not that day. A lovely used crib mysteriously showed up on our garage. Upon questioning, Mandy confessed that she had acquired it from a friend. For free. Probably because our friend's husband did not want it in his garage.

I was pretty sure that the crib is not for another little Trevor coming down the pipeline, as that snip ship has sailed (though I'm always willing to make a valiant attempt). Furthermore, we already have one crib spring hanging crazily on the wall, complementing the equally crazy empty frames and two month old New Year's decor. So I asked Mandy what project she had in mind for this lovely piece of child-safety-recall.

Turns out she wants some sort of bench. That I have to design. And make.

I blame Pinterest.

  10. You can do it, yes you can! You better get busy! You need the practice. Before you know it your daughters will be all grown up and coming home saying Dad, I had this idea... I should know, I do it all the time :o)

  11. One man's trash is another man's treasure. I've heard of repurposing a crib for a bench. Hey, how about a coat rack like they used to have in the old days? Nothing wrong with that. Right now my husband hangs his coat and Australian river hat on our wing backed chair. Guess that's what the winged part is for? Ha!

  12. But another little Trevor would be so cute! I almost kept our old crib in order to make a kids' craft table and then I remembered that I am scared of woodworking. Mandy will do a great job with the bench!
