Instagram Friday: I am SEW Not the Priority

You'd think that being married to a famous craft blogger would mean that I would have access to an in-house seamstress...

I've acquired a several pair of slacks over the last few weeks that needed hemmed to length. Every couple of days I'd check with Mandy and see if she's had a chance to get to them. She'd respond that she'd been too busy that day. The other day I came home from work and saw this:

Yep. Those gorgeous hands belong to Mandy. Working on a sewing project: a chain made from paper circles sewn together. Glad to know my sewing my pants rank below sewing paper together.

Maybe I'll wear the paper chain to work instead of my yet-to-be-hemmed pants.

In Mandy's defense, the paper chain is super cute.

  4. My husband is actually the one who does the hemming in this house, I don't have the patience to get them straight.

  6. You are one patient husband!! This would not fly with my boyfriend, I would not hear the end of it.

  7. It is too bad you don't live in Phoenix. My daughter found a lady that hems pants for $4.00 a pair; well worth the cost when it comes to waiting for the seamstress to get around to doing it. Hemming is not my favorite thing to do either....

  8. Just ask to use her sewing machine to hem them yourself. Then ask which thread to use, how to thread the machine, how and where to pin your pants, how to work the machine...she might think it would be easier to just hem them than to teach you how. But if she does teach you, there's one more skill to add to your resume.

  10. My husband sews his own pants now. He can hem them back up and stitch the crotch. Why do guys get holes in the crotches of their pants?
