Well trained...or brainwashed?

Last week I was lucky enough to get to hang curtain rods in our madeover living room. I'm always game for hanging curtains because it involves three of my favorite things: 1) drilling holes in our walls, 2) working with fun fabrics, and 3) getting on Mandy's good side. Only one of those things is true.

I set up the ladder, collected the necessary tools (drill, bit, drywall anchors, tape measure, pencil, stud finder, handsome handyman, etc) and got set to work. It was only after I was perched on the ladder, drill in hand, that I asked Mandy the question:

How high do you want these curtains?

She was stunned. It was as if I'd asked her to calculate the average airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow. A blank stare and silence told me that I'd better seek answers from a more trustworthy, knows-all-things-crafty source.

Pinterest.

And I was caught in the act.

Am I simply a well trained domesticated male? Or am I brainwashed?

Note: Can someone please help out Mandy? She has no idea of the significance of an unladed swallow...

  1. I looked up unladen swallow... I still don't get it. HAHAHA. I must give kudos to Mandy though, she does have you VERY well trained.

  2. My husband would much rather calculate the airspeed of anything than hang curtain rods for me...but he's been a good sport about it.

  5. He, he, he. You need to initiate her then.

  6. Are you talking about an African or European swallow? African swallows are non-migratory!

  7. Dang everyone said my pithy reply comment, so now for something completely different...Look, that rabbit's got a vicious streak a mile wide! It's a killer! Run away!

  8. My husband hangs the rods high enough for the curtains to be close to but above the ground. Surely that's where all curtain rods should be?

  9. Haha, I was totally going to reply "African or European swallow?" Glad so many others out there got this too!

Really, no offense to Mandy, but isn't knowing this a prerequisite to marriage? :)
